Addressing Internalized Discrimination

When addressing societal discriminations such as racism and sexism, people often face impediments created by internalized discrimination.

Internalized Discrimination:
When a group of people is systematically mistreated over a long period of time, members of that group may internalize the misinformation and the hurtful behavior and then mistreat themselves and members of their own group.

Helps participants recognize internalized discrimination in relationships and interactions with others.
Demonstrates methods to heal the internalized discrimination.
Deepens the effort to overcome institutionalized prejudice in school systems, media, financial institutions, etc. in order to stop the conditioning of new generations of children.
